Freeze Dried Bloodworm

It doesn't have ny risks of parasites or infections does it like live does? I got some at LFS yesterday but I'm not putting it in my tank 'till I'm sure.

no its disease free and is quite cheap i would suggest getting frozen bloodworm though as it is much cheaper in amounts then dried

Thanks. I only grabbed it coz it was by the till when I was getting my new Platy. Made me laugh that they do they whole impulse buy thing (delibrately putting little bits by the till) even in an LFS

yup i do that but on fish not the food lol

its usually just live foods that carry the risk on passing on parasites etc. when the bloodworms etc are freeze dried or frozen it kills any nasties making it safe for our fish
just dont go too mad with frozen or freezedried food and use it as a treat once or twice a week.

Hi lol thankfully I can't do that with fish coz of the size of my tank. If I had a big tank though I know I would, I'd end up buying fish every couple of weeks.

Thanks Matt. I'm glad I got it for them coz they loved it. They turned thier noses up at the Daphnia so I'm glad I've found something "meaty" that that like. So I now have 2 different flake foods which I alternate as their staple, then I'll give them this once a week and I give them peas/cucumber once or twice a week too (intead of their flake). Do I have a good diet for them now do we think?

I only feed them once a day which I'm hoping is ok. One of my Platys is a right fatty so I think he obviously gets plenty.

You can get cheap supplies of freeze dried bloodworm, algae pettets, etc from reputable Powersellers on Ebay

Live foods are best food for any fish and most of it is safe
If you are worried about live foods then feed them the next best ting frozen bloodworm or any frozen food is better than freeze dried foods.

not 100% that this is true. the nutritional value of both is very similar
