hi chance ya might move this to plants section which is fair enuff but anyhoo,

i just bought 10 green cabomba plants of ebay for 3 quid with postage they gonna b perfect for me egg layers cos the frilly bits on the leaves they go right across front to back about 6inch from 1 end of tank bargain to local LFS sells em £1.75 EACH or 5 for £8 so i got mega good deal now just need java moss

blimey that is cheap but i only paid 2 quid and £1 postage so works out bout same for 10 of em. but yeah LFSs are always expensive for plants round here sometimes more so than the fish LOL

Remember that the majority of online sellers list "one plant" as one actual stem, whereas one plant from your LFS will be a bunch of about 7-10 stems ;)

(this is not a definite reason but it may be why there is such a difference in price)

Oh certainly you'll have no problems with them, what I meant was dont just write your poor LFS off ;) many LFS's get a bit of a rough deal what with all the internet business these days.

No doubt their plants probably work out a similar price, it's just how it's laid out on the net that makes it look all that much cheaper and attractive B)

I prefer to buy potted plants, although rather expensive to begin with they have alway proven to be better all round plants, robust and healthy. Tropica brand are excellent.

i not writing off LFS completely but as i want them from front of tank going across to the back it works out easier and cheaper cos i cant plant em acroos with em being seperate instead of buy 5/6 potted plants i gotta work to a budget LOL

and potted plants are good i have 1 where i mixed 2 plants in 1 pot looks different but i see how well it does if it slows growth a bit than its cool.

Hi glass cats :)

Cabomba used to be very plentiful in the lfs around here, but it's hard to find these days. I wouldn't mind having some to float for my bettas.

I'll move your thread for you. :D

Where I live the main lfs sells potted plants for £2.50 & bunched plants for £1.50

the LFS has em potted they big to bout foot high, which is good value as its handy for instant cover but they sell tiny plants more like shoots for same price i know they grow but im kinda value for money lol

but 10 stems are perfect for my needs and as the fish shouldnt spawn straight away the plants have plenty time to grow, plus i have a bit java moss in there at same time. cos i wanna breed me tetras n danios (hopefully my glass cats) in the one tank without having to rescue babys im taking more time to find more protective plants happy with just 1 baby fish surviving as couple 100 fry would fill up to much room when they grow plus the extra fry provide me big fish with a tasty snack LOL everybodys happy (except the baby eaten fish)
