Foster-Homing A Sick Betta.. ***day 7 Update..pic Heavy**

It's gonna take a bit more TLC to get him back to full health, but there is definitely a distinguishable difference between his fins 7 days ago and today. He's also much more active. I've explained to Alex the cause of the problem and how future illness can be prevented in the future. I'm giving her my container of BettaMin flakes (my bettas won't eat it), and some links that she can read so that she takes a bit better care of him. He's looking one heck of a lot healthier than my veil tail now though..

My VT (<-----) has chomped off all of his tail and bottom fin to about 1/4 of their usual size, and is working on chomping his dorsal fin now. No idea what has sparked this behaviour as he cannot see Jayla anymore, and his tank surroundings have not changed. I swear he does it just to make me look like a horrible owner, as his fins look awful now. Thankfully, my water is clean and kept that way, so I should see new growth in a few days and no infection or rot, but he's still going to look awful for at least a couple months.

UPDATE on JAYLA:

Alex sent me a message on MSN last night intent to show me Jayla's progress. Jay's fins are back to normal colours. He's now residing in a divided 10 gallon tank.

The other side of the divided 10 gallon is currently housing Theodore, a fish she rescued from the same exboyfriend who gave Jayla the Ammonia burns. Theodore is in much worse shape than Jayla was, but Alex is hopeful that he may make a full recovery. I'm not so sure... He's in really rough shape, but at least she'll make him as happy and comfortable as she can for his last days.

I've thoroughly converted Alex to Bettas. After seeing the personality change in Jayla when he was moved to a larger tank, she's realized how bad his unfiltered bowl was for him. If Theodore passes, I can see her keeping the divider, and getting a new betta. :). Alex has me on speeddial just in case she has any problems with Jayla or Theodore over the summer.

Thanks for all the help!.

Happy Ending?...
.... I think so!

hope everything goes well... adding a little bit of salt to the tank each day (aquarium salt) should make it clear up. keep doing the daily small water changes and keep us updated. fingers crossed.

looks exacly like my betta but mine is royal blue, and it has no finrot or ammonia burns and stuff like that, all tho thats a nice fighter.
