water conditoner added accordningly
lighty salted tank, 1/2 teraspoon per gal
lowered water level
ph 7.5
temp 80
ammonia nitrites & nitrates at zero
two rounds of jungle paracite
two rounds of jungle bacteria and fungus
he is still very puffed up and pineconed bad, but still swims and can get around, i am going to my sisters to pick up some mycician and epson salt for a small epson salt bath, i just dont know what else to do fr him, and i realy dont want to lose him! note only am i really attched to him but he is the nicest fish i own and if i lose him my whole breeding program is gone!

Mycician? whats thta? do you mean myxazin?

If so it wont help your situation, the fish has internal problems and needs anti internal bacteria meds to help.

So sorry Azulfire and I know how you feel. We lost Sahara (Mum to our first spawn) at the weekend to Dropsy :-( . Hopefully you've got to him with meds in time. Good luck and let us know how he gets on!!

she means maracyn2... azul got some from me along with some epison salts and is on her way back to her house.

I really hope he pulls threw azul, hes one nice fish.

just gave him the bath and waterchanged the tank again and added other meds,,he still looks real bad now completly washed out and looks grey, is sitting on his side at the bottom, gils are still moving though, i dont think he is gonna make it! this sucks i just cant do anythine else for him and now i am just waiting for him to die or get better, this sucks.........................

Do another water change to get all of that salt out of the tank. Then add in epsom salt directly to the tank (dissolved first of course).
I had a girl who was developing dropsy. I caught it early, and added in 1tablespoon per 5 gallons of epsom salt directly to the tank when nothing else was working, and it got rid of her bloating after a few days. Didn't get rid of some of the scales popping up, but she lived normally for a little bit longer until she finally did die. Not sure if it was the same thing that caused the dropsy to begin with *shrugs*

It sounds like it might be too late. Every betta that I've had that had the bloating and the full on pineconing going on never made it.
One of my guys got it pretty much overnight like yours did. Acted totally fine even though he was bloated and pineconing like crazy, but slowly but surely, it finally started getting to him and I had to euthanize him.

Anyways.... I really hope something works for you and you can save him.

yea i dont think he is gonna make it, but every day i get up and he is still ahnging in there, and it wasent even overnight it was almost instatously1 with in 2 hors of being moved he just looked horrible. this sucks. did another water change and did meds again.. not much else i can do for him sides keeping his water clean......

he ate 4 blood worms today and actually noticed me in the room and swam over, still very pineconed thought, not gonna say he is better and ruin my luck, but at the moment he isnt any worse! :good:

gave him another epsom salt bath this morning bout 8 , and just now he did his happy dance and ate 3 baby pelets, then begged for more, but he is still bloated and a bit pinceoned, though not as bad as yesterday,, so only a bit of food at a time. will do another water change tonite. i am soo happy he isnt dead, i love this fish, wow that sounds dumb, but he is the nicest i have ,, forest green ft and his first batch of babies look aswume! they are 9 weeks on saterday , but newfishey said she gets dibs on first pick, lol you guys should she her rub her hands and grin... lamo, anyway he is lookin a bit better and swimming so yea!

on another note, i have a female, i think, from forest spawn that has no ventricals, , i am pretty sure lucifer , {that very cranky baby that was seperated at 6 weks due to his aggresion,} anyway bit them off, so if she dosent ever grown them back i would give her away as a pet.. non perfect bettas i consider pets.. free to pick up or just postage price if is in usa, anybody interested pm me, oh and s'he is only 9 weeks so i would be at least till 12 weeks till i could mail it.

but if the damage was caused by another fish, she would be fine to spawn. its only if her genetics are flawed that she shouldn't be spawned. i would have thought it was worth a go at least. but thats just my opinion, feel free to ignore it :good:

well see thats the problem... i dont know if its gentices or not ,, she has been missing them for a very long time, like sience 4 weeks when i could just start telling the babies apart, however i cant be totally sure she wasnt born that way or if it was actually damage from another fish, soooooo, unless she magicaly grows them back, kinda doubt, but hey there is awlays a chance, but i would only do the free pet thing. but yes thatnk you very much for your concern and ideas
