Hi,

Well I was just reading this thread and I think it was CFC was talking about FW fish he had eaten, and last night I was watching a program on discovery.
Mike someone or other cant remember his name, he's a big buch craftsman, does a lot of programs.

They went fishing using a mild posion, and they caught from my identifying some species of knifefish, until then I didnt know these were food fish, has anyone here eaten them? and what do they taste like?
I'm a big lover of fish for food as well as pleasure... that sounds a like odd... lol

Birchirs are also food fish, same questions about them, and do you keep any fish which are concidered food fish in other countries?

I think Arrowana are food fish too arent they?

I should stop doing this thinking, lol, probably why I'm full of useless information because I ask so many questions :)

The only FW fish i have eaten are trout and salmon, i tried eel once but it was disgusting.

Almost all the bigger tropical species we keep are food fish in their native lands, in some parts of South America you can find zebra shovelnoses on market stalls being sold for a few pennies, here a live one would cost you a couple of hundred pounds.

think i read somewhere that clown loaches are sometimes caught and eaten as a food fish.maybe wrong tho. :)

interesting... maybe we should try and being some fish across saying they are food :D make a packet lol
