The lids of my fishtanks(seemed to have originated from the goldfish tank) recently became infested with flies, covered in little whitish flies that now flies that fly everywhere(found some in my bedroom), And i want to get rid of them, they look gross and seem unsanitary.

last week I did a 50% watter change in both tanks and bleached the lids, unfortunately the flies have returned i haven't ever heard of this before and need ideas to kill them

Thankyou

Yeah, those ones designed for greenhouses should work, you can get them from garden centres I think. Or cellotape is a cheap alternative! :fun:

Venus flytrap... :p We used to have one and the plant literaly eradicated all the flying insects around the house... weird things.

Put some tape on a window and smear some honey on it and the flys stick to the double sided tape then remove it when you have caught all the flys.

if the bleach can't kill them i doubt flytraps would do any good tempous has a point, plus most drown in the watter on the hood or burn in the light but they just keep comin

Had this problem before, only it was very humid, warm weather, had a terrible fly "outbreak' in the fishroom, seemed to happen just after an exceptionally heavy rain. Seems like an odd thing to be happening at this time of year, though. Might want to do a little detective work into why and where they are originating from. Other than that, the sticky "flypaper' traps that have been mentioned worked for me, with no toxic fumes to affect the fish. Good luck.
