Hi guys,

My tank has been cloudy for a couple of days, today I've done a 30% water change etc, all readings fine. But I've noticed the filter doesn't seem to be pumping anywhere near as hard as it did before. I've cleaned the media in a bucket of old tank water and put it back together but I just can't seem to get it flowing .....any suggestions? Ta.

Hi there

I always found that whenever I did any kind of tank maintenance that involved switching my U4 and/or my U2 off I always had to twiddle with the little knobs on top to get the flow how I wanted it again.

Did you clean the impeller and impeller well? They can get clogged with debris.

Hi Delta,

Thanks for the reply :) I've done that and it's on the correct settings, I've also checked the motor as there seems to be quite alot of people who have had issues with getting the impeller going again.....but it all seems fine. Now where I've fiddled so much the tank is very dirty with lots of bits floating in it but the filter doesn't seem to be working at full pelt. maybe 50%......worried now :(

+1

This should be done at leat once a month using removed tank water and cotton buds, makes the world of difference, as does gently rinsing the outer pads (do not replace these until they fall apart, mine are over 2 years old second-hand) and central media every fortnight.
