Hi guys,
Just opened up the filter that came with my Roma 125 the other day, it seems to be missing the biomax part (looks like the small round things?) and the tray that they go in, from looking at pictures it would be in the middle of the other two trays with the foam and I believe poly/carbon in each. Should they be there or is it a 'sold separately' thing that I will need to buy? I don't want to get in touch with seapets again without being sure, I've already called them about a light unit that was relatively easy to fix and I don't want to become 'the awkward customer'. In any case I was planning on filling the tank later to check the filter & heater, will I still be able to do that with the filter part empty?
Also while on the subject I have a different question, some people say the carbon (don't know how the 'poly' part comes into the equation) isn't needed, and if it is used it will need replacing every four(?) weeks. Should I leave it out when I eventually get the tank running or is it better to keep it in, I'm not really sure of the benefits and drawbacks (apart from it shouldn't be there when using medicine). I assume if it does need replacing then cleaning it in the way the foam parts can be cleaned doesn't help it's lifespan. Just curious what that extra fiver a month would bring if I did use them.
Thanks for your help.
Tom
