No this is what I mean. If I take the venturi off it bubbles. I have to have it on so I can adjust it to just agitate.

as stated earlier, the rubber against plastic seal will never be perfect. You could try to submerge the whole filter, that way no air should be entering and exiting the venturi part.

Oh ok, I might try that. Thanks! :)

No problem. As for the 'crud' that comes out of the filter when you give it a clean.....there's no perfect way of preventing that happening. I unclip the top part of the filter, angle it so that I can get at the sponges then slowly remove them to a bucket. Some waste will escape but it shouldn't cause the fish any problems as it was already present in the water column anyway.

As for cleaning the filter spnges, dont be frightened of giving them a good squeeze to remove the muck. A lot of the bacteria in your sponges will be attached to the sponge itself, not the muck. Most of the bacteria will be on your biomedia anyway.

Thanks. Whilst we're on the subject, how often are you supposed to change those bio noodle things? I wasn't planning on it until they're powder lol. Is that right?

mine used to stop bubbling but i found out if you take middle cage out with the bio max in give it a good swill in bucket of aquariam water this will unclog cage of food and waste cos this is the cage the water is pushed thru and out into tank hope that helps .

Hiya. Thanks for that, I may try it on Saturday. I've just takne Venturi off, changed to spray bar and pushed my filter down in a hope it helps my plants and guess what.....some crud came out LOl!

I've upped my TPN+ from 2ml daily to 3ml daily too!

Right these photos are rubbish:

These are the newest ones which I think are Amazon Swords? They're kinda bunched together behind the bog wood

These are my grass like ones which as you can see are all but dead

Little one at the front

Whole tank

Brown Spot

This looks like a different camera but meh

Heeeeeeeelllllllllp. They're still not any better really

Whats up with your plants caz? they all look ok, from what I can see with those pictures anyway!

I'd post it in the plants section, the top one is amazon swords not sure what the others are.

the brown spot, does it keep getting bigger? I don't think its a huge deal the rest of the leaves appear to be nice and green.

Really? I hope so. tho the pics ARE crap lol.

Nothing seems to be growing back after I cut it either......is there a knack? I never know where/how to do it.

The pics are pretty bad I agree! :fun: They look ok from what I can see although I can't be certain unless I see pics.

It's actually quite difficult to keep an eye on growth unless your sad like me and remember! With the amazon swords, new leaves grow out of the centre(approx...) and will just grow full size pretty quickly.

My memory is awful but I thought you were dosing nutrients and liquid carbon?

I took this pic a while ago to show you my coconut cave (you still can't find it? :p ) the plant in the foreground is an amazon sword, you can see the small leaf growing out of it? yours must surely have one...or will soon. Mine does a leaf at a time.

i'm not quite sure what the 'grasses' are, if they do die its probably because they're more of a high tech plant? ask the plant guys!

So I have to cut the stalk right down to the base?

Yeah I am dosing TPN+ AND Easycarbo.

on a sword, take the leaf right down to the base and cut it with a sharp pair of scissors. The plants look OK from the pics, and your still dosing 2ml? If there are brown spots, they up the TPN to 3ml and see what happens. The thing is with swords, is that they don't repair there leaves, once they start browning, cut the brown leaves.

Hiya, thanks

I upped the dose to 3ml last week. Hopefully it should all be ok now.

Is my little plant at the front a pygmy chain sword?

yes it is, mkae sure you have enough flow around the plants to ensure they are all getting what they need.

I think so. I've got it on Spraybar which they say is the best setting for the plants. I can see the leaves at the other end of the tank moving about slightly.
