Hi all
if any one has a fluval edge you will probebly have a noisy filter. Common problem
any way after hours of looking on Google for a answer I finally found something that helps.
You will need either:
Fluval silicone lube or PLAIN Vasline (not the stuff that tastes of cherries or smells like aloe Vera) it must be plain
Empty your filter first its a good idea to do this while doing a water change then unscrew the motor housing from the filter. Inside you will see the impeller. (looks like a white fan)
take that out of its housing.
Inside the housing there is a rod (impeller shaft) put a bit of lube or Vasline on the shaft and slide your impeller over it a few times.
Put it all back together and it should have quietened down of not repeat with a bit more lube or Vasline.
This is not a permanent fix and you will probebly have to do it once a month but it will quiten that noisy filter up for you
I hope this helps those who invested in the fluval edge.
