Hi New to this site! Looking for some help with my co2 in my tank! Recently been givin the fluval edge as a present and set it up as a tropical tank. All the test from the water are perfect but the fish seen to be uncomfortable in ther and are swimming at the top of the tank 90% of the time leading me to think its the co2.Have spoken to a few people about this problem and they all blame the tank due to its small surface area! They were very critical about the tank and suggested i take the tank back blaming its terrible design faults! I am new to fishkeeping and would really appreciate anyones advice on this matter! Kind Regards Deco

Are you injecting CO2 for plant growth? or (without being rude) are you new to the hobby and asking whether there is enough oxygen present in the water?

If this is a new tank, perhaps this is a more simple problem of it being a new tank with a tank that has not yet cycled. What tests have you performed?

If I am thinking of the right tank, it does have a fairly enclosed top that might restrict air getting to the surface area. is this right?

Plenty of people here that can help you, I'm just asking a few questions so that we can establish what the issue might be.

Edit: the beginners FAQ will explain what I mean by cycling..

Hi Deco and Welcome to TFF,

I think Squid is on the right path and that your problem may be more one of not having had the core information of "cycling" shared with you, rather than the Fluval Edge being the problem. Its true there could conceivably be other problems like stocking or filter setup but lets leave those for now to be discovered later.

It sounds like you may be in what we call a "Fish-In Cycling Situation" (an unplanned fish-in cycle) and if so, you may need to urgently do some rather large water changes with good technique (using conditioner to remove the chlorine/chloramine and roughly matching temperature (your hand is good enough for this.)) Meanwhile your going to need to plan to get a good liquid-reagent based test kit if you don't already have one.

Please read the Nitrogen Cycle, Fishless Cycle, Fish-In Cycle and Setup articles in the Beginners Resource Center at the top of this forum as homework until the other members can get to you with help and advice. They're great and you'll get it all sorted!
