Ok so quickly got bored of the small tank so bought a 2nd hand aqua one (178 ltrs) and seeing i have mature media in the Fluval will i be ok to transfer the media straight over into the new tank and just crack on with it?

I have a tetra ex700 filter for the new tank! Could i just stuff the old media inside it to get it going or how do i go about it?

Thanks neil

If you're transferring all the fish from your Edge to the larger tank, then yes, move all the media into your large filter, and the fish over, at the same time.

If you're keeping any fish in the Edge, you'd need to leave some of the media behind for them: so if you're moving half the fish, then move half the media, a quarter of the fish, a quarter of the media :good:

Okay thanks for the quick reply!

Just wondering if i could just run the fluvals filter along side the ex700 for a little while ?

You could, but you'd have to run the two filters for at least six weeks, and even then, as your current filter is coping with the waste from your current fish, there'd be little incentive for the bacteria to colonise the new filter so you'd lose almost ll of them when you removed the old filter, leaving you with an uncycled tank :/

Much better to just move the media to the new filter. Also, doing it that way, means the Edge media would stay cycled and you could just take it back out if you ever needed to set the Edge up again.

Ok thanks for that:) you have put my mind at rest now :good:
