I just got this fish two days ago and he wont eat. He just chews on the bloodworms or whatever I am feeding him and spits it out. I have already treated for internal parasite since that could be a sign of it, but Im still worried. I am hoping he is just stressed from the trip from New York. Am I just being paranoid or could it really be an internal parasite?

The usual is needed;

Tank size:
pH:
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:

What did you treat with, and at what dosage?

sorry forgot:
pH 7.0
ammonia 0
nitrites0
nitrates 20
dont know the kh and gh ran out of liquid test
tank temp is 82

pale colors, not eating, white stringy poop, treated with Jungle internal parasite with whole bottle as described on dosage chart.

But I do now know that it is worms as I saw him poop a big one out; this must mean the meds are working

I would now back up with a bacterial med.

You are meant to use bacterial meds after using internal wormer. If the worming med dosn't treat bacterial infections.

Long stringy white poo can be constipation, bacterial infection, internal parasites.

Do you have to retreat the worming med in so many weeks.

What med did you use?

2 days is nothing, especially after a long journey, (which it sounds like it has been on) Most cichlids can take upto 10 days to settle back down after a move,

I would simply try feeding a couple of times per day with different foods, if after 7 days of this it is not eating then yes i would be concerned but knowing cichlids by day 5 he should be ok

Well I saw him poop out a worm and it was alive. But he ate about 3 bloodworms today so he is getting better.

Did you get the worm out with a net.
What med did you use.

Ok.
Good Luck.

Thats good news then.
