hi folks, i have a 130 litre tank with a gravel substrate, i have a external and internal filter and a tetratec air pump i have got 65 watts of light. the tank is approx 42cm deep. i have started to use clay ball nutrients and liquid. i just wanted to know wether the air pump would affect the addition of flourish excell organic carbon? as i know that surface movement affects the addition of c02 when added as a gas? i havent got a lot of plants i just wanted the ones that i have got to grow a bit better. (mainly my amazon sword) any input would be much appreciated as i cant seem to find anything on the net. thanks.

ANYBODY??????? BASICALLY I HAVENT GOT A PLANTED TANK JSUT A MATURED TANK WITH A FEW PLANTS
ALL I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IS WETHER I AM WASTING MY TIME ADDING FLOURISH CARBON WHEN I AM RUNNING AN AIR PUMP??????????????????????

Liquid carbon products like Excel deliver carbon to the plant via a complicated molecule that works at a different stage than CO2. The chemical is not vulnerable to gassing off due to surface water movement like CO2 is, as far as I know. Personally, my opinion is that providing liquid carbon and then dosing fertilizer in the right balance for the other 16 or so nutrients is a good idea, even with a few plants in a low-light tank but that the amounts should just be adjusted down to being very tiny.

I use a Seachem root tab punched deep directly under my amazon sword about one a month very roughly and its been doing great, shoots a new 17" stem about every 3 days at times. I also dose Excel and macros/micros but in small amounts.
