Hi,
Has any one had experience using this please..Intend to start a planted tank and use something under the gravel, then saw this...I have no experience growing Aquatic plants but intend to have a go shorly, so your advice will be most welcome for me

FLORA ROOT..Flora root is a hard granule, high in natural laterite that is designed to be mixed with aquarium gravel, replicating the natural substrates in which aquatic plants flourish. In nature, bacteria that inhabit these substrates break down root acids, enabling the roots to take up the nutrients they require as and when they need them.

Seapets Price: £22.99

I have no experience of this product, and I don`t know of anyone that has ever used it. Laterite is one of those seriously over rated substrate additives (I have used it before), simply because it contains a fair amount of iron. The importance of iron seems to be greatly over rated on this forum. Iron is a trace element more than covered by a decent trace additive such as TPN or TPN+.

Try getting an inert substrate that you like, and give something like TPN+ a go. Your plants needs will then be covered in terms of macro and micro requirements and, if you keep the light levels down to stock lighting, you could go down the organic carbon route with Flourish Excel or Easycarbo to give plant growth a little more of a boost.
