If @TwoTankAmin is saying to add the bacteria and then fish I would do that then! I wanted to say this but I really wasn't sure if it would be a good idea and I was afraid I would get screamed at lol 😅

Yup sure does. I'm a teen. I shouldn't have these pains. But I just thank the person texting behind us going 40mph for my lovely state of pain.
Okay. I'll put the fish in their tanks when I return from my trip to my parent's this weekend. In the meantime I'll try to cycle it. If I get close I may give it a few more days and see if I can do things right.

And yuck about the texter and rear-ending. I have been twice. In high school it was close to the same but not quite as bad. And maybe 4 months ago we were but at slow speed. Chiropractor did wonders both times. 1st one was just before finals and my grades took a huge hit. Too much pain to study. Affected my scholarship in college. Have you tried chiropractic assistance?

My pain is all genetic disorders. I've struggled since 12 with the migraines. Hospitalized so many times. So I get the "being too young for this kind of pain " thing. I missed another of school. Constantly getting caught up. And this was before being able to create a learning plan schools have now. I wish you the best.

@Rocky998 @TwoTankAmin
Ok. Added ammonia to 1.0 ppm last night. Then tested water this morning... twice... same set of water and chemicals. First time right after 5 minutes ammonia was .5 pmm and nitrite (I know you said to ignore it but I was curious) was 0. About 45 minutes later I realized I hadn't dumped the liquid yet. Ammonia was definitely .25 (Mom and I had a hard time deciding on level first time around but it was definitely darker than .25) and nitrite definitely. 25! So... do I need to wait longer before reading my tests or do they change away from the right reading as time passes?

Read the tests after the time stated in the instructions. They can change colour if left longer.

As a side issue, the nitrite tester can leave a blue deposit on the glass if left to stand. Always wash them as soon as they've been read. To check your tubes are clean, push a damp paper tissue (Kleenex type) into the tube and see if it gets discoloured.

That's great! Nitrites are coming in which means the cycle is progressing well!
But now you can't add the fish you have to complete the cycle

It is right after 45 minutes? Two tank amin said it wouldn't be correct after that long. It was 0 at 5 minutes.

There's no nitrite yet, it only showed up after leaving the tube to stand for 45 minutes.

Even if there were nitrite, it would be removed along with any ammonia before doing as TwoTankAmin suggested. He said "Be sure to start with 0 ammonia in the tank" and this applies to nitrite as well.

Sounds good @metropolis93fan!

I have not been to any doctor for it yet... I need to but we've just been busy and haven't found the time... Really need to though.

Oh man I feel for you. Sounds awful. What genetic condition is it?
Yah, people this young shouldn't be having to deal with these pains. It's sad.

Thanks, I wish you the best as well

Ooh missed that... I thought after 5 minutes it showed .5 nitrites. Sorry

I kinda figured it would be off but was so hopeful. But means when I get back Monday I can do in-fish cycing. I don't have enough bacteria left to start now (I put some in last night before the agreed conclusion I should in-tank cycle).

Migraines and endometriosis forgenetics. For sure.. I also have tmj issues (I've ground so much I have no cartilage left in my jaw and one of the two bones on both sides is turned 180 degrees the wrong way. My mom did it too but not to this extent. Not sure about genetics) Saw a specialist for it and he wanted to do major surgery. Way too expensive. And too far away (Florida.. I'm in IL) But found a local dentist who studied under the fl guy (best in country) who had a splint to wear on my lower teeth that when adjusted lets your teeth rest normally. Most of them... I've tried many since 4th grade... didn't help that much.. This one is very specialized though. Since then I only hurt when I've ground on it too long causing grooves. Also have a bladder condition that may or may not be genetic. (Bladder issues on both sides of family but not this specifically). Treated this recent pain as that for 4 months before moving on to other doctors then back to them... pain in same area, very similar in nature. So yeah. Life is grand. LoL.
Please do see a doctor. If you hurt this badly there could be something seriously wrong. Or even seeing a chiropractor might set things back right. Just takes patience. Doesn't happen overnight.

Do I need to clean the gravel, clean decor and rinse out filter sponge before I start in-fish cycling? Really hoping not, a least not the gravel. Not easy on my mom or me. But I don't want too much ammonia
Don't clean the filter or decor. But yes vacuum the substrate and do close to a 100% water change before starting the fish in cycle

Here is a tip for refilling the tank. Get a really long hose (one of the non-kink ones) and attach a valve where you can turn off the water flow from the end of the hose. Before using it on the tank let the hose run for a few minutes to rid of toxins in the hose and then turn the flow off and bring it to the tank. Then add dechlorinator to the tank and turn the flow on to a light flow so that way there isn't a ton of disturbance where it kicks up substrate and stresses the fish.
This makes it an easier water change especially with a bad back or any other aching muscles/bones.
I do it all the time for my tank
