Is finally over!!!

Cant wait to get my fishies now!
So stocking list for my 25g is:
6 pygmy corys (habrosus)
10 tetra (Rummies or black morpho if i can get them)
2 Sparkling gourami
3 Male guppies

Anyone any comments or issues? And does anyone know good fish stockists over the internet??

Oh and do i need a cover for my heater?? To stop fishes burning themselves...

Thanks!

Can you add that many fish at one time?

I don't have a cover on my heater and I see my shrimp touch it all the time. I don't think it gets hot enough to burn anything.

Im not adding them at once :) getting the cory first i think, then the gourami. Will be spaced out though :) keeps my bank balance in the black :)

Its fully cycled though so adding fish all at once has been said on here to be fine.

I added 6 sterba cories and 10 scissortail rasboras in one go after fishless cycling, then 2 pearl gourami's and 10 zebra danio's a week later without any ammonia/nitrite spikes (was testing daily)

A proper cycle in theory lets you closeto fully stock instantly, so adding that many fish would be fine as long as it doesnt actually overstock the tank.

I personally would add the cory's last just becasue there the pygmy version... i herd reports that they tend to be less hardy than most other cory's and maybe worth the wait adding them :)

You're right Jen, I think MW and OM47 have given us a number of valuable comments about pygmys and I seem to remember MW thinking at least one or more of the 3 species were good candidates for later (2,3months?) introduction after additional tank aging beyond the fishless cycle... but I can't remember the details...

Definately having 6 of the habrosus is great planning though Sarah, should be perfect!

I love the way my habrosus make themselves at home in the tank. They are much more likely to be seen swimming freely around he tank than the pygmaeus or the hastatus. I have put them into old aged tanks that had been set up for a long time but have also used them in newly cycled tanks at times. They seem to do OK in both situations as long as you keep an eye on your water parameters in the newly cycled tank and don't let problems develop.
