so ??
after i just read another thread i just wondered about this,im on my own at the moment so i dont really have anyone to answer to, but i know if i was still with him, he would go mental!! he would consider it a massive waste of cash and time, and would always find an alternative way to put the cash to "good"use.

so does it cause rows in your house or is it all peaceful and amicable??

im sooo nosey eh???

shelagh xxxx

Yes I expected something like this
I'll not be drawn on the matter, but will follow with interest. It could become Controversal

my partner doesn't care - he doesn't live with me.

The misses is just like me loves animals so she loves 2 go around the LFS prob more than i do she does object 2 me wanting loads more fish tanks but allows me pretty much 2 do wot i want after a couple days of creeping lol

but on the whole she loves the fish and the time they take up :) good job really lol

get the odd sign every now and then after spending hours watching the tank and ignoring her, but other than that its all good!

other half has fish as well, he bought 2 tanks with him when he moved in with me...... it's a bit of a recipie for disaster though tbh, we encourage each other too much and it's easy to get carried away with no one holding you back and saying 'no' to things!

my partener has no one but heself to blame for me liking fish, i got into fish keeping becasue when buying cat food she pointed at some fish and said " ohh theyr pretty i want some of those" so being the nice guy i am i got a 60l tank with all the bits and bobs that were needed for her.

I got the tank home and set it up, found this forum and learnt how to set it up correctly and when ready for fish we went and bought some.

2 days afterr having them she lost interest in them and i went and bought a 165L tank to keep more and bigger fish in.

she hasnt grumbled at how much i spend as tho together we stil have our own money, but she did say one time that i had spent alot, i think its when she came home and found the tiny little tank at the end of the bed on a bedside table had gone and there was a big tank with external filter in a purpose built cabinet there in its place.

he he so if she ever did grumbe my answer will be its your fault !! lol

Well Shelagh

Great thread!

My partner, mentions sometimes at the time I spend on the tanks....not the money because it is MY money....

He does sometimes say....'do you talk about anything other than fish' My response 'Do you talk to me at all' ? LOL.....Men eh?

Saying all that, he said it is nice to see me interested in something...for a change (i do not have a lot of spare time really) well for the fish I do. :D .....he put a smile on the face the other day as he asked if I wanted to go the LFS to pick up some big rocks for my biggest tank....he even paid....and he bought me a fish too....then told me he was going fishing this weekend (carp fishing) I do not mind him going every weekend if he will take me shopping at the fish store   Hey well at least we have something in common...he likes fishing, I like my tanks and fish....lol...I have offered to get him a little rod and he can fish in the tanks....he said to me 'don't be stupid' My humour is a little more than he can handle at times

My hubby is into fish just does not use the forum he is ok with me buying stuff but thinks Bettas are a waste of space that is where we differ, we have differing opinions on how fish should be kept

My wife is somewhere between the first two. If she was 110% she would be doing the water changes, driving to all the outside auction with a bunch of obnoxious guys, and working a long 12 hour day for the club auctions. She has offered to do water changes when my back went out, does go to the occasional outside auction, and does put in some hours for the club auctions.

Besides that she does all sorts of aquatics related duties & nonsense with me. She was club secretary last year, goes to most all of the club functions. She has gone with me on some wild adventures, out of state to collect seven 150 gallon tubs, and driving through some of the nastiest areas of Chicago late at night to retrieve some free gear. I constantly bounce ideas off of her, as to where the market is heading as far as selling, improving fishroom efficiency, where I'm headed with breeding, the list is endless. She also tells me when the fish are fine, and I should really be mowing the lawn or painting the bathroom.

Not quite 110%, I'd give her a 98% though. :good:

I'm single, but the way I see it, out of all my oddities, my animals (fish or otherwise) are probably the least. If seeing my living room is a deal breaker, heaven help if you ever actually get to know ME.

Interesting story: A girl recently thought my gravel vac was an "enhancement" pump.
