hi, im looking to try breeding some fish. nothing to complicated or unusual but not the easy peasy live bearers.

i was looking at trying corries but i am wondering is there any other i could try. something where the fish/inhabitants are not to expensive but are hardy. any thoughts?

Depends on what tank size you have available?

Convicts are really easy to breed!

Add water and fish and they will pretty much breed...lol.

killifish? what about hatching some eggs? tho thats the easy part, keeping them alive when they have hatched is the tricky part.. challenge tho :)
tho i like kribs too :) wouldnt go with convicts unless your sure you can sell/rehome them afterwards :)

yeah, thats the issue, you see. i imagine there are people out there who want corries but as said the hardest part is raising the fry, they need really shallow water about 2 inches initially and plenty of food.

my other option is to sell my 120L and then get a small tank (around 20-40L) and do a nano planted. hmm, the choices.

Corries dont 'need' to inches of water when they breed do they?

a lot of people breed them in a normal set up tank without to many issues

yeah, i know, it just ups the chance of the fry surviving as they seem to prefer shallower waters and then it to slowly get deeper.

Rainbows are pretty easy to breed. The fry aren't that hard to raise either provided you give them adequately sized first foods like vinegar eels.

hmm, im going to get keyholes for my 240L but i could give breeding a go in the 120L
