Fish Throwing Up

So i have a blood parrot and a puffer (i was told they'd be ok together) but lately during feeding time, the puffer gets aggressive with the blood parrot and wont leave him alone. I noticed right now that one of them threw up. i kinda put a lot of food in there this time around, but i'm not sure if that is a sign of some sort from one of the fish. should i get rid of the puffeR?

first question is what kind of puffer, what size tank, how long has it been running?

as far as the throwing up, do you mean that the eat some and it looks like the spit back out smaller pieces of it?

if thats the case its probably just to big for them to eat whole? i crush my flake up small so i dont have to worry to much about that.

spotted puffer, 30 gallon

they were getting in each others face and then there was a big cloud of the food i fed them. (50/50 brine shimp/bloodworms) i'm pretty sure it was the puffer cuz his stomach is really full..

but i'm starting to wonder if they were a good combination. I know it's not a normal combo, but i didn't think it'd be a problem, they get a long except at feeding time, and they stay aggressive for a few hours after.

i'm more worried that it's over stressing the BP more than anything, but i found the throwing up odd.

no they arent a good combo, parrots are fresh water where as puffers are normally brackish except dwarf puffers. also a single puffer, (if i remember right) would need that whole 30 gallons to itself. do you have salt in the tank? a hydrometer?

k it just happened again. it was the blood parrot.

ok like i said it might just be taking in pieces that are too big for its small mouth.... how long have you had it?

ok yeah, theres blood coming out of what looks like his rectum, in front of his little tube. he does this thing like he's swallowing a bunch of air and then a little blood comes out every time.


if i didn't know any better i'd say he's bleeding internally???

or maybe i'm just being paranoid, he's acting fine besides that

its really hard to determine what is wrong? if you could get us your tank stats... ph, mitrates, nitrites, ammonia, and everything it would be much more helpful, also a picture is worth a thousand words so if we could actually see what it is your refering to it would be helpful. i know nothing of parrots but im sure with more information from you someone will be able to help further.

everything is fine in the tank. It's a 30 gal. 0 nitrites 0 ammonia 7 pH i don't have the nitrates count. I wish i could supply pics, i can't find the cable to upload them. But it seems the bleeding stopped and he's pooping, but the poop is long clear and stringy

ok, here's a theory. Is it possible he could have eaten way too much, and he has fish diarrea? haha i know this sounds dumb, but he's pooping out some of the brine shrimp and they look excactly how they went in, and could the "blood" been from the bloodworms he ate?

he went into hiding and is pale so i'm doing a water change.

So it looks like everything is back to normal. I must have just overfed him yesterday. talk about being over protective parent! haha i've never seen a fish do that before.
