I have made my mind up today to strip down my planted tank and set up a Malawi tank. The equipment will be sold to make funds available for ocean rock!! ( pH controller, CO2 needle valve, diffuser tower all JBL 18months old)

Can anyone advise me a to a selection of trio's which I can have? I fancy Lab trewavasae, Lab. fuelleboni,M. johanni, P. zebra, P. socolofi, Al. freibergi, Protomolas similis "Red Empress" I am concerned that they may be some incompatable fish here. I was led to believe that I need to crowd, to avoid aggression, is 24 about right for the tank size (48" x 20"x 24")?

Thanks for your help

 Oh dear, sorry about that. It is 440 ltrs (88galls) but with the substrate I have in there, with bogwood, it came out around 66 galls when I filled it with RO water.

Sorry about that again, must get my facts right!!

Find out whats available first, then pick a type of cichlid either haps, peacocks or mbuna, A really good book is the back to nature guide malawi cichlids by ad konings which has most of the species from lake malawi in it.
