platy about to pop
poor micky mouse platy being pursued by horny platy
black phantoms courting like crazy
neon tetras full of eggs
rummynoses looking a little suspicious

How can you tel when mollies are mating? Mine just chase eachother around sometimes, and boom! one is pregnant. I don't think I've seen them mate...can somebody tell me what they do?

with mollies their is a long courtship routine, the male dances around flashing his dorsal fin, once the female is pleased by him he will drop below and just behind her tail, he will then swing his gonopodium (modified anal fin) forwards and then swim up and along side the female. this allow him to then place the sperm on her genital area.

I've never heard of a courtship dance for guppies, I don't think it's like that for them.

guppy courtship is quite obvious rearly, the males swimming infrount with fill fins and dancing around. if the female dose not like him then she will not let them mate, even if they look like they just do it all the time

hehe. funny thread. Watching endlers mate was funny. This 1 endler would swing its gono.... anal fin. (too hard to spell) left right and centre. Pity it was firing blanks. Literally all day it would go after everything, male, female, endler, clown loach, plecco, dwarf gaurami (which got fed up and ate it lol) It was the ron ... of the fish world!

no not at all, he will win her over eventually just give him time, it might be the case that you havent witnessed the mating yet the chances are that they already have is quite strong, its the same with most livebearers that i understand.

Okay, I'm new to guppies. It seems that my females don't want to mate when my males do! It's funny to watch them trying to mate then when the boys give up they are all ready! DOn't know why all my livebearers do that, maybe the girls like to piss off the boys! lol
