Fish Juggling - Going To Do A Trade And Upgrade

Just been to the shop and the owner was having an other day off (I could make jokes but Im technically unemployed now Ive finished uni ) But they did reserve the Guinacara and 2 of the Geos for me, the Guinacara is awesome hes like my sev if you stare at him he stares back

They are smaller than I remembered, the guinacara isnt quite as round as some of them are and the geos are probs an inch and a half bigger than mine atm but they look great

The more I think about it the more Im happy about doing this now, my sev and the guinacara are old friends as are them and the new geos parents so its more of a family reunion + my nic, but shes a little pussy cat really and will be put of the guinacara when he flares out (if you havent seen a video of a guinacara flaring have a search for it, its hysterical)

Been looking at tanks and found a few that are viable just need to hear back from them.

I just rang up to try and sort out the swap and he wont do it, he said all three plecs for the Guinacara and then £50 for the 2 geos and Im not doing that. He told me the Guinacara was £25 cash so essentially Im selling my 3 plecs for £25 which is just mad Im going to stop listening to his brother when he says the boss will do me a deal it happens all the time.

So after weighing it up and all the hassle involved in getting a new tank asap for these fish specifically and the cost of the fish them selves its not worth it.

Ive put a reserve on the Guinacara till tomorrow as Im still interested and I think that the tank can handle him esp when the HRPs move on and I may still sell my L135s as I really do never ever see them.

I think Im still going to look for a bigger tank as well but not for the purpose of getting 2 geos the more I thought about it as well I kept thinking why are you doing this? While they are awesome fish they are not my first choice for more fish Id rather get an other sev or rescue this uaru Ive seen trapped in a tiny tank for ages.

It's amazing how some "great deals" can turn out to be amazing rip offs isn't it. Especially when it involves part-exchanging anything with a shop.
Hope you can sort out what you really want, at the budget you can afford.

Rescuing that uaru sounds like a great idea !!

Im pretty mad about this now the more I think about it, I gave them a trigon 350 when I gave up fish for a bit and all the fish for free as I wanted it gone quick since then all the guys in the shop know me and always say stuff like oh Id give you it for free after you gave us that tank and those fish - they still have my old rainbows in their display tank for gods sake. And yet the boss still wont do any deals for me.

At the end of the day I know he would sell both my L135s for at least £40 each because thats his standard price for any plec with an L number he would probs charge more because they are a pair that lay eggs so lets call that £90-£100 for the pair for him to sell them on and I know he would be selling my L75 for at least £60 if not £80 because of his size and awesome appearance and combined for the three he offered me £25 for them its just a joke.

Ive started to email a few custom tank makers for quotes on 4x2x2s see how it will go found a decent deal on one so far and its not that much more than I would have to pay for a second hand 100 gallon most of the time so mulling that over. At the minute its between buying a rena 350 second hand or a custom made 4x2x2 or a second hand 4x2x2 but the latter seem impossible to find for decent money without marine equipment lol.

So my plans are now

Swap my Turqoise Rainbows for Dwarf Neon Rainbows (my girlfriends fish and the larger rainbows take up to much stock when its not a specific rainbow tank)

Sell - All 3 of my HRPs, both of my L135s and possibly 2 or 3 of my headstanders

Buy - The 1 Guinacara just as cash rather than a trade. Keep on looking to sell my tank and find a replacement larger tank preferably over 100 gallons - then consider what else to add.

If anyone wants to buy the HRPs, plecs or headstanders let me know Im in Hull and will travel with them a little for the right home.

I can understand your anger. The boss sounds like a tool. You GAVE them a Trigon 350 plus fish? I'd have thought you'd have been their favourite customer!

Do you have a pic of your L075, as I have one too, but he isn't a big chap. He cost me £25 alone, so that bloke offering you £25 for three L number Plecs is basically an insult.

I highly recommend the Dwarf Rainbows. I have 6 for my 50g and they are brilliant fish, such gorgeous colours. Going to get 4 more when I can

I also looked around a lot before getting my custom build tank. Basically the brand name ones only go up to 450L or so and they are horrendously expensive, then the second hand ones there was just none suitable around my area. I got a custom build HUGE tank from ND Aquatics for a VERY reasonable price. Yeah I've had to buy everything else, but very happy with the tank and they built it in 3 weeks too.

I need to sell my tank before I can do anything Its looking like I might go the custom made one - I found a maker that has an offer doing one for £340ish inc delivery for a 4x2x2 which is perfect for me so hopefully I can go for that.

This is my L75

Its a few months old now saw him the other day and he is much bigger now much fatter than he is there. I think his tail have grown a bit as well - actually at a double look he has grown a fair bit actually. He hides a lot though which is quite gutting but hoping that when the L135 are moved on he will come out more.

Just a waiting game now - possibly going to get the guinacara tonight might be a little cramped for a few weeks but I think the tank can take it just need to have a move around before he goes in to break up territories and my plan should free up quite a bit of floor space.

Got the Guinacara today they are in float at the moment, nice sized fish unsure of gender but I suspect female will get pics on tonight as its too hot to put lights on atm.
