is it a Etheostoma ramseyi or any Etheostoma

Seconed thoughts as mouth is not right

Cottus carolinae
?

Hmm well I don't want to make this painfully easy by telling you which one of those two it is. It is either cottus or Etheostoma however, so good job so far. But not either of the specific ones you mentioned.

OMPOK! HAHA. Funny word.
another misspelling by those pesky Victorian explorers
it should be the Malayan fish name limpok
would be interesting to know what limpok means in English.
any Malay members or anyone speak Malay?

I speak some Indonesian which is very similar to Malay, but the word 'limpok' does not exist. Couldn't it be 'limpah'? This word means overflow or inundate.

possibly, i'm just going by fishbase who say it is from the Malay word limpok

Nope this fish is native to north america, in fact it is so rare, that some people claim it to be extinct in the wild, although that is not true, as I have caught them myself in a net, about 4 years ago.

stizostedion vitreum glaucum or the stizostedion canadense the first many think is extinct and the latter is almost look the same and still can be seen

lol closer keep trying, Maybe I made this too tough.

Btw, there is only one known picture of this fish, and it's the one I'm using. lol

Its a darter I'll tell you that.
