Heres a link to the start of my fish tank blog: http://www.hybrid-fish.co.uk/FIshTank.htm

Basically, I was going to add a Betta Splendens on Saturday... but having now done a bit more research have noticed a few people quoting htem as jumpers....

What might be more suitable? how about a small croaking guorami (or pair) would they be less inclined to jump? I will remake a cover for the fish tank out of the old one, that is raised to allow ventilation. Thanks!

Yep, bettas are jumpers, I have 3 and can testify that they sometimes do it for no reason... good on you for doing your research.

Gouramis may jump too... a lot of anabantoids do, and bettas and gouramis are part of this group.

You are safest making a cheap, attractive tank hood out of clear plexiglass or something as almost all fish will jump at some point. :)
