Fish For 23L Edge Tank

I have now finished my fishless cycling and am ready to get some fish.
However, the advice for most of the really small fish like Pygmy corys, Ember tetras, Espei rasboras, Galaxy Rasboras etc, seems to be that they are shoaling types so at least 6 of that type needs to be kept together. But with a limit of only 23litres I would like to keep less, maybe 2 of each to allow several species. ie: maybe 2 Pygmy Corys, 2 Ember Tetras, 2 Galaxies and perhaps 4 Neons. Would this be OK or will they be unhappy? The tank is well planted with good hiding places as well as good swimming room.

Schooling fish need to be kept in appropriate size groups or their behaviour will not be natural - they will hide and be jumpier, likely get very stressed easily.

i presume you have the heater lol but how about cherry barbs? weve got 4 in ours and theyre pretty happy together with some corys will work nicely, simplicity is the key with the edge i think

I'd get 6 of one species then have cherry shrimp.

stick to boraras species, ember tetras or celestial danios in a group of 6-8 and you'll be fine, as Adam said, you could add a group of shrimp if you wish, you could also add a pair of sparkling gouramis to that, all of the proposed are low waste, so there are no issues there.

Refrain from neons though, they could really do with a bigger tank.

a nice group of colourful guppies would do the trick (jokes)

a small shoal of 6-8 neons would work and maybe a trio of cories for the bottom would work as well then add some cherry shrimp and plenty of plants and little rocks works very well.
