Fish For 125 Gallon

Alrighty, well heres whats up.
I'm setting up a 120 gallon for my BIO majors project.
I want to do a SA/CA tank.
Complete with cichlids and bottom feeders.

This will be the fish's permament home and they must be low-maintance.
The tank has a UFG, lights, gravel, plants, decor and some other stuff.
I have a onetime fund of 250 dollars at my LFS so i must know what i want.
[i think i have everything i need, so i can just use that on livestock/plants ]

I want to get some colorful cichlids.
and a few bottom feeders.
i was thinking of a silver aro but it'll prob. get to big for this tank
i really dont want cons because they get crazy when they breed.

heres a list of some stuff i thought would look cool. [i dont want all of these, its just an idea]
can anyone help me make a list of fish to get?

i really donno what im gonna do.

id shark would look good. normally its 110gal minimumfor an arrowana.

Id sharks grow up to 30 in and are from asia.

not a fish i want in there.

Minimum tank for a silver aro is 270 gal. and 480 for life.

Remember. This fish grow from 4-5 feet in length....you wouldnt put a kid in a 110 gallon would you?

I want pairs of cichlids...
then something else.
like a few catfish or something

Ram/Butterfly cichlids! They grow around 4", feed on flake/frozen/live, are peaceful but easily bullied, and are interesting to look at.

i need to know what species of these will work togather and which ones to remove and maybe what species of fish to add.
remember im looking for newworld fish.

The demensions are like 72 X 18 X 22.
but im not quite sure, it may be larger.

Yeah i've kept all those fish and like them, except i'm still trying to get a rusty plec.

Well Thanks, I didnt know if those pairs will work.
Will it become too territoral in the tank?
or will I actually see fish swimmimng, not hiding in their caves lol.

I'll have to check into the rusty plec. Idk if my LFS gets L77/L147s

I dont want a common, but like a gibbecs or royal.
