Fish Food Annoyed!

So went to my LFS last month for a general browse and pick up some tapsafe.

Anyway i asked for some fish food flakes, girl behind counter (owners daughter) asked what fish i had, so told her 'cardinals'. She suggested i try 'Hikari micro wafers'. Well used them that night and they didn't touch them so syphoned them out. the following day tried mixing them with flakes and slowly weaning them off flakes on to the wafers.

Anyway still no luck, they go for them; eat them and spit them out Grrrrrr!

Any suggestions for new flakes as i'm all out!

i use tetra colour wafer/flake/discy things. my tetras go mad for them. i also use tetra pro granules, but they dont float as long, but my tetrs will chase some, then the fish lower down eat the rest.

I`d actually advise against wafers being a main food for cardinals and neons to be honest, but that`s just my own opinion.

I found when keeping both neons and cardinals that they like to eat flake that is actually sinking, not floating on the surface. Best way to feed flake for them is to sprinkle small flakes onto the surface and then swirl your hand in the water so the flakes sink quickly. As neons and cardinals have small mouths they can`t normally cope with big flakes. I`ve been using Aqauarian Tropical flake food for quite some time now and even though I now have a Tanganyikan setup, the fish seem to love it.
If your fish are being fussy about flake, I would suggest not feeding them for a day or two, they`ll soon eat the flake if they`re hungry enough

Another good food for fish with small mouths is frozen brine shrimp in garlic, most fish go crazy for food that`s mixed with garlic

Have you tried Tetramin crisps or even Tetra prima (crumbled up a little)?

I recently bought some Hikari Cichlid Gold small floating pellets which have been a massive hit with my African Butterfly Fish, Barilius hukaungensis and my little Persian Killis (really funny seeing them almost playing "water polo" while trying to work out how to tackle the pellets!

My rosy tetras eat Tetra Tabimin, the wafers meant for bottom dwellers.

I crush mine cause my glofish are small yet, they won't take the first time, but after a few tries they will, the same happens with my corys they didn't touch the wafers for the first 3 days, but after that they "attack" the wafer.
