Fish Fight Help!!!!

Hey there - if you haven't added dechlorinator to his water, the chlorine is toxic to him right now, and that's why he's not moving much. You should get him some dechlor asap, or it can kill him. Make sure you put it in as soon as possible. You can get something called Start Right by Jungle, or Stress Coat in a yellow bottle works too. Stress coat is 7 drops per gallon.

A teaspoon is for 10 gallons and it's 2 teaspoons for fin growth. But to measure it out for a gallon, it would be about 7 drops.

Well, I added the dechlor. after I did a complete water change. I just added back a little of the water he was swimming in while I was cleaning out the tank. I also took the plant in the picture out and put these in. He is still in the corner in this pic. but he has swam around more :D His fins are moving while he is holding still and he is moving his nose like a bunny  (sorry, I thought it was cute) The only thing I am still concerned about right now is that while I was changing the water I found a few small shreds of his fins lying in the gravel  I honestly do not think it is fin rot though! Can anyone suggest anything

The stress of it all may have caused him to bite his own fins. It happens with Bettas...they're rather sensitive to psychological stress. He's stop when his world has settled. But, if he doesn't, get some Blackwater Extract or Indian Almond Leaves in his water. They replicate the natural habitat and really ease anxiety in fish.

Did he suffer any injuries while with the Gourami at all? If so, there could have been reduced blood supply to some parts of the fins, and they died and fell off.

Fortunately, fins regenerate wonderfully well, and, with plenty of fresh, clean water and a bit of time, they'll grow back.

He's quite lovely-colored, by the way. At least, his dorsal fin is.

Thank you Kiarra, you are really helpful. As far as I saw, the only 'bite" the gouramie got in was on his side, and that was while I was putting water in the coffee pot to put him in. He mostly kicked the gouramies butt  As far as the Blackwater Extract or Indian Almond leaves, where would I find them  My lfs that I have had to go to has nothing useful as it is a big chain store. I only just moved to Florida and I have not had a chance to scout out some local lfs' If you have a link to an online sight that is good, I will definitely check it out! Thanks for all your help :D

Alright, here's your problem with the whole Betta and Gourami cituation. You see Betta's are a fighting fish, who like to fight with their kind. But none the less fish can be really really stupid sometimes and can mistake a fish for something it's not.

Basically what I am trying to say is that your Betta is fighting with your Gourami because the Betta thinks that the Gourami is a Betta as well. Now before you reject this theory. It has been proven. I just read an article in Aquarium USA (Tropical Fish magazine) about it. You see that Bettas and Gouramis actually come from the same family. I forget the name and I am at school and do not have the magazine off hand. But anyways that is my 2 cents on the whole squable. Sorry about the incident. This mainly why I try to steer away from Bettas is a community tank. It's just a whole big misunderstanding.

Thank you red-devil0602 I will check out ebay asap. Just to let you all know he is doing a lot better than before. The new plants seem to be helping a lot

I think someone mentioned using stress coat earlier. You might also want to look into 1/5 of a dose of melafix or preferrably bettafix.
