Fish Dying Without Explanation

It was probably the plecos picking on his/her tank mates!

To my knowledge, plecos are only agressive to each other, and it's not like they could bite.

But I bet they could give a nasty suck! :)

Back on topic, I've had mysterious deaths from time to time. I often notice the fish sulking for a day or so before it goes. I've used Interpet anti internal bacteria almost as a preventative measure from time to time, it may help it may not but it makes me feel a bit better knowing i'm trying.

I had exactly the same problem and I posted all my stats etc on here and they were all fine. They were just mystery deaths.
I can assure you it does go away. I just continuted with the water changes and didn't get any new fish until it had been a couple of weeks since my last fish died.

Hope that helps a bit. :D

Thanks a lot for all your replies. I guess i'll just have to put it down as a mystery and hope it doesn't happen again.

Well, male gourami may bully each other and tend to bully other fish as well. Did you finally get your Ph down? :good:

Mollies also tend to do better in brackish water, like I told you before.

Never seen any aggression from the gourami DiscusLova. Actually, the mollies appear to be more aggressive in my tank.

To my knowledge, mollies prefer brackish, but are not by any means unhappy in FW. Do you understand this not to be the case? Do you think this may have caused the death?

PH is down from 8.0 to 7.5. :good: What would we do without bogwood, eh? LOL.

Ok, thats a neon down.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY TANK?

The neon had eyes missing, which none of the others have. This would suggest some kind of attack, but i dont see any agression in the tank. Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

Could something be hiding in the bogwood? A crab, lobster etc ???

I'm running out of ideas now. Please help.

Its impossible to say but i'd honestly still look toward the Dwarves as culprits (although i may be bias) even with the agression there is not alot you can do....
Do you have a spare/hospital tank?

No hospital tank to speak of i'm afraid. I know i need to get one set up, but its not done yet.

Might be the gouramis, i just dont know, i'll need to keep a close eye on the tank. I think thats all i can do.

Did you notice anything wrong with the neon before it died. I had a panda cory loose an eye due to pop eye, now that can either be down to poor water quality which your water stats don't suggest, or a bacterial infection. I would consider using some appropriate meds to treat it.

Thanks for all the replies. No more fatalities so far (touch wood). :good:
