Ok last week I lost a molly. He was a little thin but wasn't sure why.THought maybe the water wasn't right mineral content for him. Since then I have lost three guppies in a week. They look perfectly healthy. I just lost the last one tonight.Thought she looked close to having her babies. Was staying kind of by herself today. Up until today she was acting perfectly normal. The other two I lost last week were males.I have been testing my water. The ammonia and nirites were fine yesterday.PH 7.4 and nitrates 5.0. I don't want to loose anymore fish.Everybody else looks great.Any ideas.

29 gallon tank
6 tetrsas
1 betta currantly in a floating tank so he can't bother anybody but haven't seen him be a problem
6 guppies
2 small cories
2 ballon mollies
1 dalmation mollie

If they're all eating and acting normally with no external signs of illness then it's probably a bacterial infection. Is there any change in colour, dark/light patches on the skin, scales sticking out? Any other changes in behaviour?

The fish that's on the thin side has he lost weight due to not eating.
Do any fish look thin or bloated.
Does the anus look enlarged or red and inflamed.
What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet.
Lost any fish to bent spines.
Do any fish look pale or darker in colour.
Are any fish acting listless and lethagic.
Do any fish try to get of the bottom of the tank only to fall back down again.

The first sish that died. The mollie was looking thin before he died.No discoloration, protrucing fins or swimming bent. They all look perfect since that one just find dead when they were fine a few hours before. On a good note had 20 fry born this AM. Will put them in fry tank. If it might be bacterial should I treat the tank or will it kill all my bacteria in the filter?

Did the fish lose weight before it stopped eating.
Without answering the question above it hard to say what caused the death.

Being thin when still eating can be your not feeding enough, internal parasites, fish tb, bacterial, old age.

NONE OF THE OTHER FISH THAT HAVE DIED SINCE THE FIRST ONE WERE THIN.They all were in good condition and acting normal.

Ok that's fine then.

If any changes get back to the board.
Good Luck.

Lost another guppy today and one more female kind of staying by the top hiding in floating plants.Should I treat even though I'm not sure what is wrong.Could I treat for bacterial or parasites. And if so what should I use.I don't want to loose anymore fish. So far only guppies have died except the first one that was the mollie.

I would treat your fish for internal parasites. Internal parasites cause bacterial infections, as they damage the organs.

What should I use.name? I hope I can find it at petco or petsmart this weekend otherwise I will have to try and get to a fish store but not sure they are not easy to get to.I can mail order if I can't find it but don't want to wait that long. Will it hurt plants and bacteria in filter. Can I take my filter material out while treating and put in some tank water until I use carbon to clean it out.

What's your location? (What country do you live in).
Helps suggesting a med.
