Fish Died How/why?

I just noticed one of my fish was dead.
They all seemed ok yesterday so it was pretty random.

Seems to have a large hole all of a sudden with a stringy thing hanging out?

very difficult to say.. maybe the holes there because it died then other fish n things have started eating it.......hows the other fish look?look for anything thats not normal/unusual behavour for your fish....maybe its just a random thing maybe old

Probably some of your other fish decided to have a snack once that one died. Most fish will take advantage of a dead fish given the opportunity.
Sometimes fish die with no apparent cause, with platys it could be the stress of giving birth. (That one looks female to me but it's not clear in the pic. I'd keep an eye on the remaining fish to make sure all is well, but not much you can do without symptoms.

Yes I think it was pregnant as there are 3 ladies and they are very fat!

Just checking it wasn't something strange living inside the fish then bursting out and killing it.

Can see some bruising on her, more worried about that thing sticking out of her.

Yeah it seemed to be part of her insides. The other fish were trying to eat it..

That's what made me thought it could have been something inside her like a worm but it looked like insides rather than another lifeform.
