Fish Deaths

Yeah, changing to a new LFS would be good considering the advice they gave you.
The original fish-in-cycle fish will die off, most likely. It happened to me. :(
Stop replacing the filter media! You don't need the carbon, just rinse it in tank water every couple months.

This is all great advice - many thanks - I feel like a bit of a spanner because I thought I was doing okay !!

My LFS is quite large, well frequented and I thought had a good reputation - still when you are new to a hobby like this I guess you can be easily led !

In answer to Sofia's question, I have an FRF (Fish are Fun) tank, chinese make, much maligned in the past bat seems well made.

I have a 10 gallon frf tank they aren't so bad :p Like I said as long as most of the filter media is submerged it should be ok, but if you feel more comfortable doing smaller water changes then feel free.

Keep us updated!

The filter will be fine out of water for the time it takes to do a water change, as long as it doesn't take all day!

I'd do 25% per week, get rid of the carbon and leave the rest of the media alone unless flow is impeded.

Right, so far so good.

Following advice given, no more fish added but just put a few more plants it to replace those munched by the Snail !

All fish seem to be feeding well and no signs of any ailments. If I can go a month with no losses I will be over the moon.

Thanks again for all the advice.
