I am new to this hobby. I would like to know what kind of fish will live peacefully together. I have gouramis, angelfish, a redtail shark and a couple of other fish that I don't know what they are. I also have two snails. One of my snails will float on top of the water. What is causing this to happen? Thanks for any help that you can give me.
I have a 55 gallon aquarium. I don't have any photos yet. I'll try a take pics of them tomorrow.

also if you could post a photo or describe in detail the unknown fish, we can id and give you a better answer.

Hi LandersJ and welcome to the forums!

I looks like you answered Ally's question there by editing your original post. Usually you'll want to click the "reply" button and add another short entry for things like that so others can follow the sequence of the discussion, although sometimes the editing feature does come in handy for mistakes and spelling errors.

Certainly doesn't look like you are fully stocked yet for a 55g but after you post up the pictures the members will probably be able to judge better.

How long have you had water in the tank and when did you first add fish?

I've had the water in for about two weeks and the fish about a week and a half. I'll try to take pictures tomorrow. My fish are not big.

Hi LandersJ,

And was the filter brand new with new sponges and other media in it?

~~waterdrop~~

Hi Waterdrop,

Yes everyting was brand new. I've tried to take a few pictures but I'm having a problem loading them on my computer. I think my batteries are low. Maybe I can get them on here tomorrow.

OK, LandersJ, enough info now I think to diagnose that you are in what we call a Fish-In Cycling situation. The members will be able to help you out with this, lots of people arrive with this going on.

~~waterdrop~~ :)
