Hi,

I'm setting up a new tank. It's 200L and fairly well planted. Once I've cycled I plan on adding the following fish. 6 x neon tetra, 4 x peppered cory, 2 x bristlenose and 1 x rainbow shark.

Is this a suitable amount of fish?

Will these fish be alright together (lots of hiding places)?

If there's a little more room are there any suggestions for some suitable and interesting tank mates?

If anyone could help me with any of these questions I would be highly appreciative.

The immediate thought is that your cories will want to be in a group of 6 as well.

Pretty sure the Neons won't work with the Rainbow Shark, I think Tiger Barbs would be more suitable.

The Cories should at least be in a group of 6 as well.

no!! do not add tiger barbs they may look nice but they are extremly territorial and very agressive and stay away from raibow shark put rummy nose tetras in there and 2 bolivian rams instead of raibow shark make sure there is plenty of hi.ding places

That's not true. They're only aggressive when kept in small numbers and they definitely aren't territorial.

sorry but i find that every fish keeper i no has kept thes at the start and if kept in a group they are extremly agressive mostly towards fish with long fins but also to fish smaller than them.

I must say I have had a bad experience with tiger barbs in my tank and they were kept in a shoal of 10 but they picked on every other species of fish in my tank. I would like to say that if you like the look of the tiger barbs you can go for a species of fish called the five banded barb. They look like the tiger barb and I had no problem with aggression but they are very active which could scare smaller fish and fish that are naturally shy. From Tom
