Fish and their color

Do fish lighten or lose some of their color when they are sleeping, or should I say resting?

Yes, many do this. Its not at all uncommon. Can scare teh living daylights out of if you are not expecting it though. Usually after the lights have been turned on and they've started moving about, their normal coloration will return.

Thanks for your reply, it did scare me,lol. They have done this before, and like you said, once I turned the light on and they started moving around, their color was fine, also I have a cat almost identical to the one you have posted

What type of fish do you have? I find neons do this quite alot but some fish shouldn't.

My black widow tetras and my bali shark are the ones that lose their color when resting.

Yeah sometimes they get lighter.

Yes, some species do. I've found bettas do it a fair bit... scares the living daylights out of me.
