Just noticed all my discus and rams are acting strange and hanging at the top of the tank as if theres low oxygen or something, have 2 air stones in there and literally my pair where just spawning, any ideas???

thanks

Did a large w/c and they all seem to be better, but still very confused as to whats happened as nothing had changed and within about half an hour a pair went from spawning to them and the other discus + the rams all at the surface and a cory upside down on the surface (which i put in my other tank and is now fine) so im clueless to what happaned. Cleaned out my filters and did water changes earlier also. Now theyve continued spawning, very strange :S

Did you test the water? What was the temp of the water? Sounds like it was low in oxygen but if you had two air stones running at the time it happened I cannot really help.

could they have been suffering from Ammonia?
is your Filter mature, and been cycled properly?
how do u check your water parameters?

waters spot on, have a tetra 700 external, a internal and a sponge, so more than enough media for what ive got in there. And nah they where obviously bothered by something even the pair where doing it, literally thought i was about to lose them all, something musta got into the water ive no idea atall what though considering between them swimming around happily and the pair spawning and them all looking about to die id literally just been playing world of warcraft ( ) so im still confused, all good now though!

maybe a cleaning product was sprayed near the tank? or someone lit a candle that happened to irritate them?

I used some stuff to clean the out side of the glass earlier in the day, which ive done a few times (being very careful) so if it was that woulda happened right after, had done water changes after this aswell. No candles either.

They could have got a shock. My canister filters, and mind you I think I have one of each, lol, sometimes shock the water when I need to replace a seal or re-silicone the primer. My fish immediately race to the surface and stay there until I come fix it. If you had just cleaned it, you may have bumped a seal and it needed a chance to re-seat itself and so they stopped getting shocked and so resumed normal behaviour. That is just my guess if everything else was spot on.
