I'm also thinking about switching to sand, i've read in many places that certain types of gravel will raise the Ph. My tap ph reads at 6.4 but my tank is at 7.8. Do you think that will help? I also am getting a Co2 booster bc my plants are not doing so well, the edges are turning brown...

Your problem seems sorted but...

I have just read through this post and have seen no reference to temperature...your water is warm enough I presume?

Mine is around 78-80 depending if the lights are on or off.

That's ok. My temp is about 27C (80f).
