Well his favourite spot is right on top of the filter and as of tomorrow would have had a week. Is this the beginnings of a bubblenest? (Think he will have a hard time building one here right next to filter.. if it is I am really happy! :hyper:

you sure its not the bubbles from a airstone or the filter itself and i made this mistake. thought i wouldnt of thought so they tend to me alot bigger then that even for their first one. but who knows he could be lazy and never bothered to finish it. Good luck with him anyways

No airstones in the tank and the bubbles are round the side of the filter and it is the first time they have appeared in the tank, so hopefullllllyyy bubble nest?

Looks like betta bubbles to me! My betta does not always make a complete nest or he does not do it all at once, but builds on it for a few days. If you do not normally have bubbles like these at the surface he probably made them. Plus I think that the betta bubbles stick together more. Bubbles from air flow, etc are looser and disperse IMO. Looks like your little guy is getting right to it ... : )

Well its what happened to me but they were not around the filter in the corner of the tank. and they wasnt there one day and the next they were so i thought it might of been a bubble nest but wasnt. The only way you can find out is to sleep tonight and find out tomorrow. If its bigger then yes its a bubble nest lol

It is definitely a bubble nest. It doesn't need to get bigger to prove it is a bubble nest.
It just clearly IS. lol.

Well i was just going on what i have been told thats all. If its big then its a bubble nest if not then its bubbles from the filter (Thats what i got told)

Blow a load of bubbles under the water with a straw...notice they rise to the surface and pop instantly? This is exactly what bubbles from the filter do. The only time I can think you would get persistent bubbles is when it is actually foam, caused by medications such as melafix.
The original post doesn't mention any medications so it clearly has to be a bubble nest. Plus it does look like a bubble nest.

And some males wont make a full nest, not unless they are prompted to by the presence of a female anyways.

Mine made a really big nest and he has no females round him. And didnt in the shop i believe

Sorry to Hijack your thread Amy

No no worries CTlove! It is good to discuss.

I am pleased! No medications used or anything, awww proud of Calcifer, he is a babe!

Aw well I mansged to keep most the mini nest intact when doing a water change, but he was a little grumpy! The nest has been replenished this morning :)
