First fish death, but totaly unexplained

I have the standard Juwel internal filter.
Juwel sell an Air Venturi Kit, it says it adds air to the tank.
I wonder if its just for visual effect though!

What is a internal filter. Is the filter inside the tank? You might have to get a power filter and take out the internal one so you can have more surface movement.

The juwel filters are power filters.

If you pont the nozzle on the filter upwards so that it disturbs the surface then that should be enough aggitation to get pleanty of O2 into the water, the venturis do aid a little in gas exchange by increasing the surface area of the water but are very noisy. The main thing now is to take all the sponges out of the filter and give them a really good rinse in some tankwater to wash out as much of the dead algea as possible.

Thank you very much for your advice. I've learnt alot today. Ive given my tank a good clean, rinsed out the sponges and filter wool, done 60l water change and more importantly, pointed the outflow UPWARDS slightly to agitate the water surface.

Cheers
