First Ever Test Results

Acclimatising as in you just bought new fish? That's a really really bad idea when you were registering ammonia and nitrite the day before. Not recommended until you're sure you've remidied the problem. Ie. wait for a couple of days of 0,0 results for ammonia and nitrite.

As for the 60l, 15 corydoras is quite alot, but with the correct sized filter I can't see them causing that much of a strain. Just keep on with the water changes and if the ammonia and nitrites wont sit happily at 0,0 then you might want to think about re-homing a few.

The filter is ment up to 70litres

I would personally up the filtration on the cory tank, even though filters say up to 70 litres, they dont necessarily filter at that rate.

Just keep that ammonia & nitrite down to zero or you may lose them...

Buy a bigger filter, or get a second small one. :)

TBH corydoras tend to come from rivers if memory serves. So tend to appreciate lots of flow anyways.

i dont have the money atm for it, but if it is quite cheap then maybe

I think they do love the flow as they keep swimming into my airstone

OK so now you know NEVER EVER clean any of your filter or sponges or media from it in tap water. You kill the bacteria and will be in a continual cycle. Water changes until your readings are nitrite 0 ammonia 0. When you want to clean your sponges put some of the tank water into a bucket and gently swish them around so the gunk comes off - that is all.

If you do decide to get a new filter run it alongside the old one for a month then transfer all the old media from the old filter into the new one (continual water testing needed) and all should be well. :good:

could i get away with not getting another filter, as long as i NEVer clean filter under tap water again (could this be why the nitrite is high?)

i find it shocking that people like the original poster just whack a few fish in a tank and hope for the best. its good that they are looking for advice now but imo its a bit late. they seek advice, get good advice then think 'ill just get a few more fish' like i said SHOCKING!!!

It wasnt really me, my dad saw them when we went to get food.
And kept saying he wanted to get some.
Then today he says to me "you coming?" and i ask where, and he says to get get some of them.
So i thought i better to make sure he gets the right amount of them.

I agree it wasn't a good move getting more fish the way your stats are atm,be prepared to keep them stats at zero or you will end up losing them.

If the filter is working ok and you cant afford to replace it then you will need to keep on top of tank hygene and water changes to keep the toxic levels down and dont overfeed and do not add any more fish!. If you can get any more media into the filter it will help as it will give the bacteria more surface to colonise on.

Yes the reason your are getting toxic readings is because of cleaning it under tap water. Daily water changes needed as already advised. Are you using a liquid test kit to test the water? (paper strips are useless). If it is a liquid test kit you should have a booklet with it - take some time to read up on what the results mean.

Got to get the nitrites down to zero or there will be dead fish. Are they not acting strange now? When I've had nitrite spikes, fish are gasping or near the top. More water changes.

nothing strange except 1 cory gasps for air, but i have got enough for it now, as i did some sums, so i will be getting a filter that is up to 100 litres and that should do it

60L-same results today

125L:
ph-7.6
ammonia-0 ppm
nitrite-0ppm
nitrate-10ppm
(this is that tank the guppies were added to btw)

if the levels were high i would not have got them
