Just got my first betta home today, he's in a 5 gallon tank which has been home to cherry shrimp for about 6 months now so its well cycled, over the last week I've moved all the shrimp out that I could see but I left a few tiny ones in there, its planted up quite well and he seems to like it.
When I first put him in he went mad chasing the small shrimp around probably the first live food he's ever had, he's settled down a bit now and gone into hiding the reality of the move has hit I think, I'll try and put some pics up when he's out and about, my grandaughter has christened him Eric after her swimming coach.

Do post pictures!

Male bettas tend to be more aggressive towards almost anything that moves! lol!
My boys are obnoxious if I move their tanks around and they get a glimpse of each other, especially my older, bigger boys, Tigger and Caspian.
^_^ :fish:

It sounds like you have made a good start for Eric. Tiny shrimp are probably going to be on his meal menu for a while to come.

Sounds good, pics? As OldMan47 said, those tiny shrimp are likely to be eaten by him as they will make easy targets for any peckish betta if he can catch them.
