First Dirt Tank

Hi, I am wondering if I can go ahead and put the dirt in my tank b/c i'm not sure if I will need more or not, If I have enough can I go ahead and put the sand on top of it as well? I am asking this b/c my lights will not be arriving until friday (possibly the following week) and if I went ahead and put the substrate in it could be all ready except for plants and light. Is it okay to have the substrate sit in the tank for a week?

Don't put the sand in until you get your plants in. You can put the dirt in, no problem with that.
