I currently have 2 Firemouths in my 55 gallon non-planted tank and I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on other chiclids I could have in there. I've heard Severums would be good. I just wanted to verify if I put a severum in the tank that it would be alright? Also any other ideas? Any suggestions for bottom dwellers? Would UD catfish be alright because those are the ones I have in there right now and I'll move them to my other tank if they will present a problem in the future with other fish.

you can house severums and firemouths. of course, all fish have different personalities. you should keep an eye on them for signs of bullying.

have also kept firemouths with jack dempseys.

Alright thanks, of course you should keep on eye on them. :) Always a good idea not matter what fish.

ya sevs are a good idea, or maybe kribs or key holes or something, although they are sorta small and might get bullied by the FM's

edit: maybe cons? :dunno:

I went back to one of my originally choices of a fish and I got a clown loach I'm planning on getting two more tommorow then I'll move them once they outgrow my current tank. Now one of firemouths likes to chase the loach around the tank but he never seems to hurt him he just likes to chase him. It seems when the loach gets into the cave which my firemouth has been living it chases it out. lol.. Would convicts and severums be alright with the loaches?

i would think so, I dont no if getting a fragile fish with a relativley un established tank was the best idea, as long as its stable though, i really like clown loaches, but dont have the money/ i dont want to worry about them getting to big (they are 15$ a crack here)

Really? They are $7 here at both the LFS near me. My tank is stable now though thats why I waited on getting them.

Just one my question would 1 Severum, 2 Firemouths, and 3 Clown Loaches be alright. Please don't tell me Clown Loaches get too big for a 55 gallon, I know they do but I know what I'm going to do once they outgrow it. Thanks. :D
