I know I'm probably going to get a lot of negative replys to this one but I thought I'd put it out there anyway.

Basically I really like Firemouth's, I tried one in my community tank but had to take him back to the LFS due to constant fighting with my RTBS (should have seen that one coming). I wondered if anyone has ever tried them with Mbuna, I suspect the answer is no, or at least not successfully but its worth an ask!

Water parameters are probably OK as my Mbuna tank has a Ph of 7.6, which should be OK for a Firemouth, its the agression side of things that I'm interested in, could a Firemouth hack it?

I think the Firemouth would be overwhelmed by the constant activity and aggression of the mbuna - it's not the type of environment they are meant to be in. They have completely different behavior patterns, not to mention diet.

Thanks freddyk,

I think you've summed it up right there, bit of a non-starter. Good excuse to get another tank though! lol

Some people have success on mixing africans with south american, but most of the time it ends up in disaster.....normally south or north american cichlids get way too big and will end up finishing some of the mbuna's....I would mix them personally...
