Firemouth Pairs

I got 6 firemouths right now that i got when they were about an inch...now they are about 2.5 - 3 inches

there are 2 pairs of firemouths that always stick together

within the pairs, they kinda of flare their gills at one another but i think they recognize each other and they dont chase one another like they chase the last 2 thats not a pair

also, the 2 pairs fight for this one driftwood hiding spot together but i havent seen any fry yet

are the 2 pairs formed mating pair?

This sounds kind of promising. I recognise this behaivour from other cichlids, especially the conflict over a patch of territory. Are there available territories for both pairs?

It does sound like you have 2 mated pairs but you probably wont see any fry until they have both established seperate territories.
The flaring gills sounds totaly normal too, there is always an element of aggression in cichlid relationships.
