What are these fish like? i love the look of them, i just wondered are they peaceful or aggressive??

I've done some research on them on the internet and from what i've read they are peaceful fish and they are great parents, i don't know how accurate this information is though so i was wondering whether someone could help me out and give me some advice on them.

Can they live with livebearers and other cichlids?

Cheers :D

You'll be able to find a little bit more info on these guys in the cichlid forum, but I'll get you started anyway.

By cichlid standards, they are pretty peaceful (if they aren't breeding or parenting). They wouldn't be considered peaceful by guppy standards. Now having said that, I did have a firemouth in my 65 gallon tank and I did have other fish besides other cichlids in with them (some large platys, mollys, to name a few). He was always very well behaved, and I had him in that tank for over two years. But I had him in a pretty big tank, and I got him when he was smaller than every one else in the tank. I would do much more research on them, and just consider my experience with them, one of many possible outcomes.

Thanks for the reply, i am seriously considering getting one, i will do some more research on them before i get one, i have been told they are fairly peaceful, i already have peaceful cichlids in my tank and none of them have ever caused any problems, but i would love a firemouth if i can have one :)
