Firebelly toads with eastern spotted newts

My little brother (4) is driving my mom crazy for a frog Could I put one or 2 firebelly toads in with my newts? Or should we just set up a separate ten gallon?

To an FBT, the newt's tail can easily been mistaken for a worm. Chomp. Not good.
