Nope, definitely not a show fish.
The pothos sprigs (epipremnum aureus) are there to remove ammonia, but I change 100% of the water frequently. They also provide cover which prevents jumping. I've kept betta like this for years. I live in a warm climate. We can put bettas in tubs outside for most of the year. When the pothos fills out, it looks beautiful.

Spanky? Well, at least it's better than "dave". 
At least for now. The day after his waterchange, I got another bubble nest. He also does this little flaring dance, like "I'm proud of my nest, look at manly me..." It's funny, I've done so much reading in the past and I would read about stunning males that would show little interest in breeding, and here's this rather plain male who is very interested. I got a little female (will post pictures) and maybe I'll try my hand at this betta breeding thing when the weather warms a bit. I've bred and raised other species, but I've not bred anabantoids yet.
