Hi all

So finally after many threads on here and plenty of awesome help from many of you (much appreciated) I mustered the courage to change from gravel to sand, routine for some, but very daunting for me. I got loads of excellent advice on here.

So I now have gone from an unloved tank, and thanks to this site a tank which I ma very proud of.

The water is still a little hazed, hopefully this will settle. I cant believe how quiet the ex1200 is. Havent had to modify it at all, which I was worried about as other said it would be too big for a 125. So far (touch wood) no casualties although the blue gourami is not looking too good, saying that he looked worse before the change.

Really sorry about the quality of pics, will get some more up soon:

The sand need a good vac tomorrow which will be done.

Also can anyone tell me how long to leave the ex1200 before its first clean out???

Thanks for all your advice so far, i am so chuffed with my tank now and wouldnt hsvit if it wasnt for this site.

I have clearly spent too much time on the football forum, where the banter is, er, shall we say, stronger than on here.

I had so many things I wanted to say in response to the thread title, until I realised the Mods would probably ban me if I said any of them.....

Nice change mate that. A much better scape too! :good:

I clean my 1200's roughly once every other month.

Your stocking is pretty heavy though for a 125...

Oooooh thats pretty tasty right there!

I liked your tank before, but the after is brilliant, really goot choice on the dark pebbles/sand combo :) mucho impressed!!

That looks a lot better imo :)

I have two externals on my 300l and clean one each week to maintain the flow.

Yeah, it is overstocked, bad advice before coming on these forums led to it. No more fish getting added although would love a shoal of risorba's.

Really appreciate the comments. Thanks

Wow, what a transformation! Looks amazing!

Very nice change indeed. In such a small tank you can get your heater to the side. It is too central for my tastes. And I will make a comment about the stocking. Get the congos out of there, they are a big fast tetra that need a least a 4 footer to show you what they have. And I think the firemouth will cause some trouble soon. Those two species don't belong in that tank. Why not return them now?

i really do like the after! looks great. If you could get away with it, id move the heater over to the left side of the tank maybe...? behind the wood...?

Love the after!!!! :) :good: when I get my 15 gallon I'm going for pure white sand and in my 6 gallon fluval chi I'm gonna do either black sand or dark gravel. Congrats on your big switch. It looks amazing, truly. Wish I could make a tank that nice. Lol :) :D
